I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course. I have kept the faith’, II Timothy 4:7
Eric D. Smith, son of the late Ulysses and Ernestine Smith, was born on December 5, 1967, in Baltimore, Maryland. After a brief illness, God saw the hills were getting too hard to climb. He called Eric home to be with Him on February 21, 2025.
Eric received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System, he graduated from Venable High School. Eric’s last employment was at the Baltimore Beauty and Barber School in Baltimore County, where he enjoyed mentoring and supporting up and coming barbers.
Eric was affectionately called ‘Charlie Brown” as a child. His family remembers him as both mischievous and fun-loving. He enjoyed attending family gatherings where he would poke fun and make jokes with his nieces and nephews.
One of his greatest joys was the bond that he formed with his daughter Capria and his grandson Bryson who he called ‘Buddy”. Eric and Bryson talked on the phone every day about football, and he would laugh at Bryson’s passionate commentary about the game. Eric would attend Bryson’s sports games and show his pride as a proud granddad. Eric simply loved spending time with his family and friends and was grateful for all the love shown toward him. In addition to family, he enjoyed listening to music, watching his favorite teams the Orioles and Ravens, and watching a good movie. Eric’s was such a loving person. His personality made each day a gift, and if you had a place in his heart, you resided there forever.
Eric was a child of God and accepted Christ at an early age. He kept his faith in God even when things got tough. He is now resting in The Master’s Arms.
Eric was preceded in death by his loving parents Ulysses and Ernestine Smith and his brother Wayne DeShazo.
Eric was well loved, he leaves to cherish his fond memories; his daughter Capria Smith, his grandson Bryson King, brothers Andre DeShazo and Ulysses (Pete) Smith, his sisters Carla Smith and Joanne Jeffries, one brother-in-law Walter Jeffries, two sisters-in-law Karen DeShazo and Karen Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
