DEACON ERIC TYRONE AUSBY was born on August 14, 1958, to the late Robert and Rosalyn Ausby in Baltimore, Maryland,. Known affectionately by many names, "Father Eric" by his family, "Popcorn" by his friends, "Pops" by his adopted sons, and "The Governor" by his classmates. Since childhood, Eric was dedicated to hard work. He often shared stories of helping his mother support the family by working in the neighborhood corner store. Eric attended Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated with his high school diploma from Dunbar High School in 1978, where he proudly remained an alumnus.

After graduating high school, Eric's first job was with McDonald's until joining John Hopkins Bayview, where he initially worked as a kitchen staffer. He later became an Operation Room technician and was eventually promoted to Supervisor for the OR Tech Department of Bayview Hospital. Eric dedicated many years of service to Bayview Hospital and was beloved by his coworkers. In 2009, he received the Martin Luther King Jr., award for Community Service. Following his time at Bayview, Eric co-founded a family cleaning business called "Ausby1 LLC" with his daughter Erica, while also working PRP for King Health Systems.

Eric had a passion for giving back to his community and mentoring young and old men. During his spare time, he found joy in feeding the homeless and volunteering at the Helping Up Mission. Alongside his friends Rudy and Michael Holley, Eric founded an organization called "ROOTS" (Reach Out Only to Serve), which aimed to assist individuals in the community through various programs. Additionally, Eric and his wife Danita welcomed many young men into their home, embodying their commitment to helping others. Eric took price in speaking up for his community, he had the voice of a lion, but a heart as good as Gold.

If you knew Eric, you knew of his deep love for the Lord and his faithful service. He was an active member of the New Psalmist Baptist Church and later joined the United Baptist Church in 2004 under the leadership of Dr. Carl J. Solomon. Eric was engaged in various ministries, including the Men's Choir, Music Ministry, and Men's Ministry. He loved studying the Word of God and listening to gospel music, often expressing his enthusiasm with shouts of "J-E-S-U-S" during services. In 2010, Eric was ordained as a Deacon. He also served as the church sexton, taking pride in ensuring the church was well-maintained. In 2023, Eric became a member of the Greater New Hope Baptist Church, where he assumed the roles of Deacon and Amour Bearer to the pastor, under the leadership of Pastor Khari Knox. He took immense pride in witnessing Pastor Knox's ordination and installation as a Pastor, cherishing their close relationship above all.

A devoted family man, Eric cherished his relationships with his brothers Robert, Maurice and Derrick Sr. and sister Vanessa. He had a special bond with his daughter Erica and grandson Joseph "JoJo". He and his daughter shared an unbreakable bond and JoJo brought immense joy to Eric's life . JoJo was more than just his grandson that was indeed his son and as JoJo would say his "best friend". JoJo enjoyed getting dressed for church on Sunday mornings with his "Papa". In 1998, Eric married Danita Ausby, the love of his life, with whom he shared countless cherished memories, including traveling and attending concerts together. In 2013 on their 15th wedding anniversary, they renewed their marriage vows, Eric and Danita enjoyed hosting gatherings, particularly during Thanksgiving and other special occasions.

Eric was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Roslyn Ausby, his daughter Erica Ausby and his brothers, Michael and Ali Ausby.

He is survived by his loving wife of more than twenty-five years, Danita Ausby, his grandson Joseph Parham "JoJo", three brothers, Robert, Maurice and Derrick Ausby Sr. (Kendra); one sister Vanessa; one aunt "Sis"; mother-in-law, Josephine Ball; two sisters-in-law, Cheryl Ball and Josette Thomas (Carlos); one adopted son Dontae White; two God-daughters, Britney Divers & Dela Hawkins and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
