Emma B. Powell

Emma Beatrice (Leonard) Powell daughter of the late Henry  and Emma (Rogers) Leonard, was born on  November 23rd 1923 in Nash County, NC. She departed this life on June 03, 2023 after battling a lengthy illness. God in His almighty wisdom decided it was time to call His child home, where death, pain and sorrow can’t abide-only peace.

She accepted the Lord at a young age at Union Hill Baptist church. Emma received her education from the Nash County Public School System, finishing with a high school diploma.

On August 12, 1943, she was united in Holy Matrimony with Charles Hugh Powell from this union six children were born. They were married for 54 years before his death in 1998.  She loved spending time with her family, watching her daytime soaps (Days of Our Lives) and Tyler Perry movies.

She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters Linda (Powell) May, Gwendolyn Powell, and Janice Powell, two sons, Charles Irvin Powell, Anthony Powell and a bonus son Charles Lightner. One son William Powell preceded her in death.  She also leaves twelve grandchildren, twenty-five  great-grandchildren, 3 great great -grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
