On December 30, 2016 God called his loving and devoted child home. Elsie J. Epps was born on February 5, 1916 in the state of Maryland to the parents of the late Ella Louise Monroe and George Johnson. She received her education Magothy (Pasadena) Maryland. Later, she moved to Baltimore City with her grandmother and mother. Elsie resided in Maryland all of her life, and that's where she met her 3 husbands. From her second marriage (Robert Lawrence) she birthed two children: Marcel and Marva Lawrence. Widowed from the late Robert Lawrence she then remarried her 3rd husband the late Freddie Epps.

Elsie worked as an elevator operator for the Stafford Hotel in the mid 60's. She also worked as a master seamstress at Spring Grove Institution, which she retired from in the mid 70's.

Elsie was a devoted Christian and a member of Temple Baptist Church. She sung on the senior choir, taught Sunday school and was the President of the Usher Board. She also played a pivotal part as a member of the Home-Going Pigeons of Magothy.

She loved playing pokeno and Uno her great- great grandson Ian and enjoyed crochet and sewing as well. Else was an EXPERT at dominions. She could add up your dots before you even started counting and would say "You don't have nothing".

Elsie was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She truly touched the lives of many and was loved by all. The Lord has blessed her on this earth for 100 years and for that we are forever grateful. There were 5 generations living in her household, with her great-great grandson being the 7th generation.

She survived by her two children Marcel and Marva Lawrence; grandchildren, Servette, Earl and Justin; great granddaughters, Ryan, Mercedes and Dacia; great-great grandson, Ian, devoted friend, Louis Mayo and  a host of relatives and friends.
