Elaine Bernadette Williams White, a
woman of faith, fortitude and dignity, was
born March 2, 1946 in Baltimore,
Maryland. She became the middle of three
children to John and Rosalie Williams.
At a young age, she received Christ and was
baptized at Faith Baptist Church. Educated
in Baltimore City public schools, she graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School with the
Class of 1963. She earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree from Coppin State University in Early Childhood Education.
While at Faith Baptist Elaine met and married John Clinton White, and from this union two sons were born. Upon graduation from Coppin, she began her career as an elementary school teacher in the city at School No. 85.
She later furthered her education to become a Master Teacher. For more than 35 years she worked as an educator and administrator in the public school system before retiring. After retirement, she continued working to tutor teenagers and
young adults, teaching them to read and improving their chances for success.
Elaine valued genuine and loyal relationships. She loved spending time with her family and friends. During the holidays family and friends often gathered at her house. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing card games, bowling, and football. She also was an avid reader of suspense and mystery novels.
Affectionately known as 'Nana' by her grandchildren, Elaine could often be found doing whatever she could to help them and others succeed. She was a person of quiet, yet gentle
strength.
In 2003, Elaine rededicated her life to the Lord and joined the Huber Memorial Church. As a result, her faith grew and she became a student of God's Word.
In victory, Elaine transitioned from this life Monday, July 25, 2016. Her parents, sister (Shirley Rogers), and brother, John
R. Williams each preceded her in death. Left to cherish her memories are two devoted sons, Anthony and David White, a beloved daughter-in-law, Sonya White; three grandchildren, Javonna, Jonathan and Dashard White, three nieces Kimberly
Rogers-Brooks, Juanita Williams, and Pricilla Williams, her closest cousin, Barbara Sommerville, and a host of other relatives and friends.
