Listen to Obituary

On February 23, 1945 Egan Wesley Davis was born to the late, Mary E. Scott and Egan P. Davis. He was the oldest of five children. Egan departed this life on August 1, 2018 after a period of illness, with his devoted wife of 35 years and family members by his bedside. He spent his formative years and received his education in the Washington D.C. Public School System.

When the Davis family moved from Washington to Baltimore, Egan's role as a protector and provider became more prominent, being a chump was not in his DNA. He was confronted with many challenges, obstacles and situations that would help to shape him into the man that he would become.

In 1971 he met Marianna (Penny), they were married in 1983. They loved each other, very much through the good and bad, their vows of marriage remained true until death do them part. They enjoyed the social scene and were often the life of the party. Together they raised their children and cherished their grandchildren.

In his desire to be the provider for his family, Egan worked many jobs and was a hard worker. He retired from the job that he loved the most, as an employee for Morgan State University. Often he would walk from his home in lower East Baltimore to Morgan's Campus in Northeast, Baltimore, rain or shine, he loved working on Morgan's campus. Frequently, he would engage the young men on campus and just challenge them in their "manhood" thinking.Egan was raised in a Christian home, with Christian values that he tried not to stray from. In March 2011, he committed his life to the Lord, was saved and baptized at the Huber Memorial Church under the leadership of Pastor P.M. Smith. When his health permitted, you would find him sitting in the rear of the sanctuary clapping his hands and saying "Yeah, Yeah, Thank you Jesus!"

To meet him was to remember him. He loved to recall and tell "stories" with his own spin. His laugh was infectious, his conversations enlightening and his advice invaluable. He left us all with a favorite memory or two. His life was full and he will be missed.

He leaves many to cherish his memory: His loving devoted wife and friend for over 47 years, Marianna (Penny) Davis; children Terrence Sr., La'kia (Martie), Egan Jr., Nastassjia (Juane); grandchildren, Shay, Kevin, Terrence Jr., Cameron, Kirsten, Shawn and Zoey; great-grandchildren, Terrence III, Nikaya and Hormey; siblings, Juan Rice, Richard Hemsley, Winerfred (Penny) Hawkins and Sandra Belford mother-in-law Sarah Bell; brother and sister-in-laws, Herman Bell, Jackie Boone, Roberta Bell and Joann Bell; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
