EDITH VIVIAN GOLPHIN, daughter of the late William and Daisy Cheeks was born on February 12, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland. On Tuesday evening January 12, 2016 God touched Edith and called her home to eternal rest and peace.

Edith was the fourth of seven children, one brother Columbus(Sonny) and one sister Betty Booker preceded her in death.

Growing up in East Baltimore, Edith attended Baltimore City Public Schools where cosmetology was her trade. She was the family's beautician. She would make sure your hair was really straight before leaving her chair.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Apostolic Faith Church. Edith was a faithful member of the Christway Christian Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Quinton M. Herbert Jr. She served on various ministries but her passion was the Hospitality Courtesy Guild where she served as President.

After several short term jobs, Edith found her passion in Medical Coding while working at Sinai Hospital. After retiring rom Sinai, she continued her employment with MedStar Health Systems until her passing.

Edith met the love of her life Louis Eugene Golphin and was united in Holy Matrimony in June 1963. From this union three children were born: Brian, Steven and Kimberly. After over 50 years the two were still dating. You would find her at Golden Corral with her love every Saturday morning along with Naomi in tow. She loved to line dance, eat crabs and she always looked forward to the yearly family trips to Orlando, Florida. She would get on all the big rides with the kids including the roller coasters.

Edith leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 52 years, Louis, her children Brian, Steven and Kimberly; two daughters in love Tracy and Katrina; one son in love Larry; ten grand-children Malina, Chris, Jeremy, Geron, Monica, Brandon, Tobias, Tyrique, Joshua and Courtney; four great-grands Sunjata, Mhaki, Taylor and Gary III; two brothers William Cheeks(Stephanie) and John Cheeks(Jacquline); two sisters Minnie Bryant(William) and Naomi Harrison; one brother-in-law Charles Golphin; two sister-in-laws Blanche Ruffin and Edwina Weaver; one sister in love Sheila; one brother in love Jerry and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
