Listen to Obituary

DOROTHY MAE WARDLOW, daughter of the late David and Josephine Richardson, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on January 9, 1923.She departed this life on Monday, August 29, 2016 at the Brinton Woods Post Acute Care Center. Dorothy was the youngest of four daughters, Sarah Richardson, Lucinda Wilson and Evelyn Richardson (all preceded
her in death).

Dorothy received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She loved and accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized at the Morning Star Baptist Church on Fayette Street. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Samuel O. Wardlow (who preceded her in death) on
December 20, 1952. From this union are six children.

She was a devoted wife, mother and caregiver to her neighbors, family and friends. She opened her door for many children whom she nourished and
cared for. For over thirty five years she dedicated her services as a Foster Parent when parents were unable to care for their children. She was an excellent cook who loved to cook and feed all. She touched the lives of many; but, nothing could compare to her service for the Lord.

She became a member of the First Charity Baptist Church in 1961 under the Ministry of the late Pastor T. C. Turner. Upon joining the First
Charity Baptist Church she immediately went to work with the Nurses Unit, Missionary Circle, Pastors Aide and singing in the Gospel chorus
and Senior choir where she mastered the art of marching. She spent an abundant amount of time organizing banquets, bus trips and selling dinners
for the upbuilding of Gods Kingdom. She served and attended her Church faithfully until her illness no longer permitted her to.

She was a dedicated member of the United Nurses of Various Churches. She's received numerous rewards in her lifetime for her many services;
but, no award down here can compare to the reward she has received in Heaven, when the Lord Himself said, 'Well Done Dorothy, thy Good and Faithful Servant.'

She leaves to cherish her memory: four sons, Michael Wardlow (Linda), Larry Wardlow, Ecliff Wardlow and Roderick Wardlow; two daughters,
Ericka Wardlow-James and Rosetta Wardlow-McRay (Freddie); goddaughter, Pastor Sheila Baker; devoted cousin, Eleanor Cawthorne; great-nephew,
Troy Jones; ten grandchildren (two preceded her in death), thirteen greatgrandchildren,
a devoted friend, Mary Rucker, and a host of other relatives,friends and church family.
