Dorothy Addison was born on June 5, 1931, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Smith and Cynthia Cozelle Stanley. She went back home to be with the Lord on May 18, 2025.
Dorothy attended St. Philip’s Lutheran church at an early age and was confirmed by their Pastor Francis Smith. She has been a member up until her departure for over 60 years.
Dorothy was a very loyal and faithful Christian. At an early age she demonstrated the gifts of encouragement and helps. Once a firefighter was badly burned she volunteered to help his family. She would watch his children so that the wife could visit him in the hospital. She left her children with someone for a few hours each week, so that his wife could visit him on certain days. You could always count on her to be committed to people in need. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Great Blacks in Wax Museum.
She was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and has had many jobs. She retired in 1993 from Johns Hopkins University after many years of service as an Assistant Lab Technician.
Dorothy was one of the founding members of the Abundant Living Love Fellowship. It was an interdenominational organization founded by her childhood friend Sis. Agnes Chambers. She has held many positions in the group, but what she enjoyed the most was learning what God had to say, and fellowshipping.
Dorothy was married to the late Gilbert D. Addison on May 4, 1951. They had four children, Tyrone Addison; Gilda A. Jones; Daryl Guy Addison and Maurice Addison deceased. They were married for 31 years, until his death. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. She raised her children in the church to believe in God.
Dorothy had three children that preceded her in death: Maurice Addison, Gilda A. Jones and Daryl Guy Addison.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one son Tyrone Addison; three daughters -in-law Arnita, Octavia and Nichole. fourteen grandchildren; forty-one great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren; two sisters -in-law, one brother-in law, god-daughter Linda Jeffreys and a host of dear cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Dorothy lived a blessed and full life. She will be missed by everyone whose life she touched.
