Doretha Bowen

Doretha Bowen, daughter of the late Walter Irving and

Katherine Nichols, was born on May 29, 1938 in

Greenbay, Virginia. She departed this life on

April 4, 2017.

She received her education at the Baltimore City Public

Schools. Upon completion of her education, she began

employment at the old Sinai Hospital for many years.

Then worked at the City . She then started

working for the Baltimore City Public Schools for over

30 years until her retirement.

She married Robert Bowen and out of this union four

children were born, Robin, Teressa, Ronald and Angela.

Doretha Bowen was a very loving wife, mother,

grandmother and a special friend to all those that knew

her. Preceding her in death are her mother, Katherine

Nichols; daughter, Teressa Bowen Hall; step father,

Arthur Nichols; Longtime companion, Bennie Mayes

and brother Alfred Nichols.

She leaves to mourn her husband, Robert Bowen; two

sons, Robin Bowen and Ronald Bowen; one daughter,

Angela Bowen; one sister, Jacqueline Nichols; nieces,

Peachie, Ronda and Alzonodia; nine grandchildren,

Damon, Jamal, Phillip, Robert, Tasha, Vaneccia,

Ashley, SaFari and Valerie; two daughter in-laws,

Patricia McDowell and Pebbles Johnson and a host of

other relatives and friends.
