Donald Lafayette Jenkins
Departed this Earthly Abode, peaceably in his sleep on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.
"Doncho" ~ "Slick", as he was known and called by many, was born in Portsmouth, Va., on April 16, 1936, to the late Doris Jenkins, shortly thereafter, he and his mother moved to Ohio, then, around the age of five or six, they relocated to Baltimore. Here his 80-plus-year Story began.
He was educated and graduated in the Baltimore City Public School System. In 1955, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy. After his Term of Duty, he joined the U. S. Navy Reserves, completing his Service to his Country in 1962.
For the last 20-plus-years, he was a Maintenance Professional with Southern Management Corp.
At one phase of his life, he was the "life" of the party. However, with the Suns and the Moons, comings and goings, he tempered that joy and life. That "life" entailed love, understanding, care and reflection, which impacted all within his company.
Mr. Donald was always impeccably dressed when he went out, wearing some of the best suits and fedora hats, always representing his east Baltimore Roots - always sharp and debonair.
He enjoyed listening to his eclectic musical collections, watching Classic movies and sports. He was a mild-mannered, gentle and a middle-of-the-road kind of Man.
In the wake of God's unchanging Plan, left to remember, love, cherish and carry on his Legacy, are: His Wife, Shirley Jenkins, two Sons: Duane Tony Baysmore (Mother Ida Baysmore), Wife Wendy and Darrell Warner Jenkins (Mother Janet {Hill} Jenkins~d.), Wife Nicole.
