Delphine Lee a devoted servant of God and a beacon of joy to her family, transitioned from labor to reward on February 7, 2026. She was born on December 20, 1953 to Florence and Tarry Lee Sr. in Baltimore, Maryland. From the beginning, Delphine’s life was marked by strong faith and a commitment to excellence.
Delphine’s walk with the Lord began in her youth. A true “child of the church”, she found her foundation in Sunday School and Youth Fellowship. This early dedication matured into a lifelong commitment to God. Under the leadership of Dr. Walter E. Paige at Faith Baptist Church, Delphine served faithfully with a heart of stewardship. While many knew her through her public-facing ministries singing in the choir or warmly welcoming others as a member of the Usher Board, her true character shone through her quiet service. She took great pride in working behind the scenes, often found carefully ironing linens for service and ensuring that the House of the Lord was prepared with reverence and care.
A proud alumna of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School (Class of 1972) and the Community College of Baltimore, Delphine dedicated more than four decades to diligent service in the legal, insurance, and payroll industries. Her career included notable tenures at Baltimore Life, Farmers Insurance and ADP. Known for her professionalism and administrative grace, Delphine viewed her work as a ministry of its own. She retired in 2015, leaving behind a reputation for integrity, kindness and dependability.
Beyond her professional and spiritual accomplishments, Delphine was a natural-born storyteller. She possessed a rare, God-given wit that could brighten even the darkest room. To spend time with Delphine was to find yourself laughing, often unexpectedly. Always giving and deeply compassionate, she practiced humility and kindness quietly, preferring to meet needs without recognition.
In retirement, Delphine poured her love into the next generation. She found immense joy in being a grandmother and continued her “work with the little ones” through Magic Minds Summer Camp. Her life reflected the belief that one is never too old to serve and never too busy to share a smile.
Delphine was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Tarry Lee, Sr.; her brothers, Amos Lee and Tarry Lee, Jr.; her sister, Brenda Lee Rhodes; and her beloved bonus son, Derrick Blanton.
Delphine leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her spirit of joy her loving and devoted son, Nathaniel Lee Blanton; her cherished grandchildren, Daniel, Kylah, Reagan, Jada, Namiyah, Josiah and Mason Blanton.
She is survived by her dear siblings, Betty Lee Allen and Eugene Lee; her goddaughters, Tammy and Shania; and her three best friends, Janice Montgomery, Irene Miller and Cheryl Clark. Delphine also leaves behind Larry Blanton, a longtime friend of 45 years and her beloved bonus daughter, Ashley Butler. She is further survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many cherished family and friends.
Delphine’s life was a testament to love, faith and family and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her
