Deacon Clarence Lee, Jr.

DEACON CLARENCE LEE, JR. the son of the late Clarence Lee, Sr. and Mary Lee was born on January 1, 1948 in Macon, Mississippi. He entered the city of eternal rest on February 13, 2020.

Deacon Lee received his formal education at Macon High School. As a young man, he found employment picking cotton in Mississippi until he moved to Rahway, New Jersey. In 1969, he became an employee of the General Motors Chevrolet Car Dealership. While in Rahway, Deacon Lee gave his life to Christ and was baptized on June 6, 1999 at Second Baptist Church. As a parishioner there, he was a member of the Usher Board. He was also an avid volunteer for Youth on the Rise, a community based program founded by Deaconess Carol Lee, his future wife and love of his life. It was at this time that the two solidified their commitment to the community by teaching youth the valve of  having a relationship with the lord, kindness, and leading a productive life.

After moving to Maryland and searching for a new church home, in 2015, Deacon Lee became a member of Freedom Baptist Missionary Church. At this branch of Zion and under the tutelage of Pastor James A. Johnson, Deacon and Deaconess joined in holy matrimony on October 22, 2016. On August 9, 2019, Clarence Lee was ordained as a Deacon. He joined the Usher Board, became a member of the Men's Ministry and assisted with grounds keeping. Deacon Lee, along with his wife, also served as security for the Women of Freedom Ministries during their weekly sessions.

Throughout his life, Deacon Lee's dedication to service and care for others was undeniable and evident when he marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., served as a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)-the Rayway Chapter and continued to advocate for youth in his volunteer positions. Furthermore, he was a devoted husband to his wife, Deaconess Carol Lee, whom he loved dearly and unequivocally.

Left to cherish his memory, Deacon Lee is survived by his wife, Deaconess Carol Lee; two sons, Jaquan and John; his sister, Juanita Lee; seven sisters-in-law; seven brothers-in-law; and the members of the Freedom Baptist Missionary Church.

We thank God for lending Deacon Lee to us, allowing us to share time, love, and the Word of God with him. His legacy will live on as a true man of God, a loving husband, and a man who gave his all in everything he did.
