David Boyd

David Boyd, aged 72, was born on August 29, 1951. He departed this life, after a brief illness, on October 9, 2023.

David was born to the late John and Jannie Boyd in Baltimore, Md. He was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools System, attending Sir Robert Eden Elementary (1963) and Clifton Park Junior High Schools (1966). He went on to attend Baltimore City College High School and graduated in 1969.

While in high school David worked numerous jobs to gain workplace experience. These jobs included Super Pride Supermarket, Johns Hopkins, and a host of restaurants around Baltimore City. Immediately following his high school commencement, he began working as a steel worker at Bethlehem Steele in Sparrows Point, Md. There he would become a part of the company's 125-year history as a steel making giant in the country. He worked there for 43 years, building relationships, and branching out to explore the rewards of being a part of the union and brotherhood. He also invested in and managed several properties that afforded him the opportunity to develop his status as a proprietor.

As an avid union advocate, he participated in many of the sponsored activities such as the food bank, bull roasts and board meetings when he was able to. For some time, he also served as a Director on the Board of the Members First Credit Union.

Following his retirement, he began a new phase in his life- a phase of enjoyment and appreciation for experiences. In his spare time, he enjoyed listening to and attending jazz festivals and concerts, traveling to Ocean City Maryland to enjoy the boardwalk, beach, and taste testing at restaurants near and far, just to name a few.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Jannie Boyd and one brother Willie Boyd.

He leaves to cherish his memory four siblings: Wylie (Kate), John (Deborah), Jessie, Lorie (Kevin Sr.); a devoted best friend and caregiver: Linda Beckham; and a host of cousins, nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, colleagues, and friends.
