Darthea Lee Davis, daughter of the late Sallie Pat (Barksdale) Cox and Lemuel Williams was born on August 15, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on August 26, 2024 at the age of 94.
She received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She received her high school diploma from Dunbar High.
She was united in marriage to Robert Davis Sr. and from that union were 3 children and she also became a stepmother to 3 sons. She was a stay-at-home mother during her children’s early childhood. She developed a passion for cleanliness and order which led her to do domestic work until she retired.
Darthea loved her soap operas. Her favorite ones were the Bold & Beautiful and the Young and the Restless. Most of her family and friends knew she would ignore them while her soaps were on and she would wait until the commercial break and say, “now you see I’m watching my stories”. If she was not watching her soap operas, she enjoyed playing bingo at the community center. Darthea had a sweet tooth. You could always count on her to have a Milky Way, Butterscotch or York Peppermint Pattie nearby.
She was a kind and giving woman with a gentle soul. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law. She was a member at Memorial Baptist Church for more than 60 years and got baptized at an early age. While attending Memorial Baptist Church, she was a part of The Missions and Pastors Aid. She was a prayer warrior—she prayed in and out of church.
She was preceded in death by son Lemuel Davis; step sons, Robert Davis Jr. and Benjamin Davis.
She leaves to cherish her memory; daughter Robin Hatcher; son, Eric Davis; step son, Reginald Davis; son-in-law Jerard Hatcher Sr.; two daughters-in-law, Anna Mae Davis and Vera Davis; two brothers-in-law, Edgar Davis (Geraldine) and Johnny Davis; two sisters-in-law, Estella Russ and Barbara Cherry (Sherman); two grandchildren JD and Chenea; several step grandchildren and a special one being Angel Simpeh; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friend
