Darnell E Massey

Darnell Eric Massey known to many as “Nelly” was born July 4, 1977, to Yvonne Crawford and the late Roderick Massey in Baltimore Maryland. Although Nelly was raised in church, he turned his life over to Christ before his departure on December 11, 2022, at John Hopkins Hospital.

He attended Baltimore City Public Schools and worked at various jobs.

Nelly loved playing basketball, dressing fly as well as watching the Baltimore Orioles and University of Michigan (Go Blue) games. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Any given day Nelly would be at your door picking up your children, taking them to the park, Chuckie cheese, baseball games or the basketball courts. He would call any of his family members and say I love you being sure to try to say it last before you could end the call, stating “I love you more” whenever he did not.

He is preceded in death by his dad and grandparents.

He is survived by his mother Yvonne Crawford, his sister Angela (Antonio), daughter Darnyell, granddaughter Jayyonna.  His foster mom Donna and his loving companion Michelle, his aunts Veronica, Vicky, Pontusha and Yolanda. Uncles Broderick (Tessie) and Lacey. His nieces Tremirror and Trekiaira. His nephews Antonio and Anthony. His godchild Shuquor. 5 great nephews, and a Host of family and friends.
