Daisy M.
Rhames
Apr 19, 1945 — May 24, 2026
Everyone Is Writing A Book About Their Life
The "real" author is Jesus Christ. From the beginning to the end, it is HIS book. From the first page to the last, it is Iife. Life as it first entered the soul, life as it grew was fed, nourished, and sustained.
The recording of the life of Daisy Mae (Jordan) Rhames affectionately called "Mother, Mommy, MaMa, and Mama Dais" began on April 19,1945. She was the third child born to the late Willie Jordan and Rebie (Curbeam) Jordan. Her earthly chapter ended on May 24, 2026, as she transitioned from labor to reward after a lengthy illness.
Daisy Jordan met John Rhames and after a successful courtship they married in 1964. They created a foundation that was everlasting and able to stand the test of time. By 2018, they had been married for 54years at which God Called John home.
Daisy received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She worked various jobs; General Motors and Edenwald Senior Living, to name a few. However, her most rewarding jobs were being a home maker, wife, and mother. Caring for and taking care of her children's daily activities while upholding high standards of household organization and cleanliness were top on her list of things to do. As a rule, you knew not to sit on her white furniture. She was also an excellent cook and baker.
Daisy received her religious training at the Knox Presbyterian Church where she served with her husband. She was a dedicated member and actively served on the senior usher board and choir ministries until her health prevented her attendance. Her level of dedication to her family and the church is a testament to the huge heart she shared with the world. Daisy was one of the earlier members of "Tones Of Faith", an all-female choir and sisterhood that could not be reckoned with.
Daisy was a woman of stature, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. But do not get it twisted, she was not a push over. If she did not agree with something or if you were not one of her favorite people, you knew it . She enjoyed traveling and looked forward to her yearly road trips to Chester and Sumter South Carolina. She also enjoyed shopping and spending time with family , especially with her grandchildren. Daisy and John loved family gathering and hosting backyard BBQ’s to keep the family connected. Daisy was gifted with a green thumb which catapulted her into becoming an avid gardener. In her early years you could find her with her family at N. Chester Street, her childhood home.
Daisy will truly be missed, and all of her endearing qualities will remain in our hearts forever. Left to cherish her memory are: five children, Lorraine Rhames, Nieta Rhames, Tonya Sharp, John Rhames Jr., Corey Rhames and his wife, A. Gaylord Rhames; grandchildren, Charteia, Natasha, John III, Cherrell, Jontae, and Shershallan; great-grandchildren, Demetris, Azanae, Pria, Shallan, Jeffrey, Jaylah, Darrias, Darrian, Ayden, Caisyn and Tyshawn; great-great- grandchildren, Demetris Jr., Demi, and Diego; one sister, Dorothy Jordan; three sister in-laws, Miriam Jordan, Shirley Hawkins, and Geraldine Scott; honorary sister Ruby Hice and honorary son Michael Johnson; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by siblings Joe, Ann, James, Gary, and Reba.
