DAISY D. JOHNSON, daughter of the late Santee and Rose Ann Harrison, was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on March 24, 1946. On June 8, 2025, she peacefully departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Daisy was raised in the church and accepted Christ early in life at United Baptist Church. She later worshipped with her family at Mount Carmel Baptist Church and Pleading Holiness Church. Her faith remained a cornerstone of her life.
Daisy was born and raised in Baltimore City, Maryland, where she attended the local Public Schools. Throughout her life, she held several jobs, including positions at the Baltimore City Detention Center, Shirley's Bar, Memorial Stadium, Continental Can Company, and as a babysitter for family and neighborhood children.
Early in life, Daisy was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and would go on to face numerous health challenges. Yet, she met each day with strength and resilience. A woman of valor, she refused to let her physical limitations define her. With grace and determination, she raised her children-Michael, Clarence, and Rose-as a devoted stay-at-home mother. With pride and joy, she also played an important role in the upbringing of her grandchildren. Daisy adored her family and was equally loved in return.
Daisy was a dedicated community member who generously volunteered her time in local churches, schools and at the voting polls. Her commitment to service, reflected her deep care for others and her unwavering belief in the power of community. Her heart was vast, and her door was always open to those in need.
Known for her energetic spirit, sharp wit and infectious smile, Daisy had a remarkable way of lighting up every room she entered. A true lover of music, she was often the life of the party-radiating warmth, laughter and rhythm wherever she went. Rich in wisdom and full of humor, her favorite sayings became timeless treasures among those who knew her best.
Once she became a grandmother, Daisy was lovingly known to all as "Granny". In every way that truly mattered, Granny was among the richest women on earth. She found profound joy in life's simplest pleasures and shared that joy freely with those around her. She embodied strength, her presence was a gift, her laughter a comfort, her faith unshakable, creating and unforgettable connection with all who had the privilege of crossing her path.
To know Granny was to be blessed, an experience of unconditional love and joy. Her legacy lives on in the hearts and lives of those she nurtured and loved. May her life forever be celebrated-a guiding light whose spirit continues to shine through generations.
Daisy had nine siblings; Anna Lee Booker, Charlie Pete Harrison, Ida Mae Anderson, Louann Goods, Mary Hall, Richard Harrison, Samuel John Harrison, Santee Harrison, Thomas Harrison; two brother-in-laws; John Goods and Marshall Anderson to precede her in death.
Daisy's beautiful life will forever be cherished by her three children, Michael Harrison (Darlene), Clarence Harper (Tellsha) and Rose Wilson (Michael); eight grandchildren, Carl Wilson, Clarence Harper III, Darnell Smith, Iyen Palmer, Latanya Pettigrew, Michael Harrison Jr., Stacy Mills and Tie Harper; twenty-two great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three sisters; Carolyn Thomas, Angela Harrison-Smith and Pearl Brown; one brother, Thomas Gordon; Santee Anderson (nephew) who was like a son to her; a special friend, Linwood Hendricks who served as a father figure and grandfather to her family; two sister-in-laws; two brother-in-laws; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
