CURTIS RAY SUGGS SR., beloved son of the late Dewitt and Estelle Suggs, was born June 6, 1942 in Greenville, North Carolina.
On June 3, 2015 God granted him his wish of being a soldier in his army of Angels, as he slept peacefully here on earth to wake up ready to serve in the Kingdom.
Curtis he was affectionally known received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. He was employed by the City of Baltimore until he retired. Growing up in God fearing home Curt always considered Mt. Calvary FWB Church home church. Curt was joined in Holy matrimony to Leola and they were blessed with (3) children. Having a love for all kids he would always take the time to make sure his nieces and nephews and some of the neighborhood kids arrive to and from school safely by walking them to the doors faithfully until his health failed. Anyone who came around he would always say call me 'Uncle Curt' even if you were a cousin, he was always 'Uncle Curt' and the famous 'Three Pounds.' Curt was fun and full of life he often talked of how he wanted to be in the Army but because of being the only son he wasn't able but it didn't stop him from dreaming of being a Soldier. So much so in his heart and eyes he was. His favorite past time was working on cars and taking care of the family dog 'Jody'.
Curt was preceded in death by his Parents and one sister, Patricia Elaine Suggs, two nephews, Curtis and Quinton Backmon, one niece, Daphne Dangerfield.
Curt leaves to cherish his memories: sons, Damien(Felicia) Gaither, Curtis R. Suggs Jr.; daughter, Kimberly Suggs; seven grandkids; four sisters, Edna (William) Dangerfield, Carol(Lois) Backmon, Wilsonia(Boo-Boo) Suggs, all of Baltimore, MD. and Annie Boyd of Ayden, North Carolina; one niece, six nephews of Baltimore; four nephews of North Carolina; two uncles Henderson(Pauline) West, Thomas (Venelle) West; one aunt Frances West all of Baltimore, MD. and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
