Constance "Ms. Connie" Crum

CONSTANCE MORTON, affectionately known by her family and friends as Connie Brown and Nanny, was born in Baltimore, MD on June 12, 1938 to the late Rose Morton and James Brown. Constance was the youngest of two. Her sister Catherine Morton preceded her in death. On the morning of March 11, 2024, God stopped by, gently closed her eyes and gave Constance her wings, releasing her from all the pain and suffering.

Constance, boisterous from the very beginning, received her education in the Baltimore City Public Schools System and was employed at Johns Hopkins Hospital for many years. Known to most ads Ms. Connie and Nanny throughout East Baltimore, she was truly a Legend that will be remembered forever.

Ms. Connie was loved by many, and her aunts loved her like she was their child. Ms. Connie was raised up with her cousins like they were her siblings. Ms. Connie was a Godmother to many, and her door was always open for the people she loved. She often joked about her "Gangsters and Gangsterettes" and not being paid ALL her money. Ms. Connie loved and knew how to have a good time. She loved to party and was known for her drop-it-low dance move when her jam came on. Ms. Connie had the gift of making people laugh. She loved to cut-up and joke. Everyone that knew her had a story about Ms. Connie when they "laughed until they cried." Ms. Connie could be in your face, cuss up a storm and the next minute have you laughing your head off. Ms. Connie was known for her swift comeback lines, knew all the latest gossip and information posted on Facebook, even though she didn't have social media. Ms. Connie greatest love was her children and grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. She took an active interest in the lives of her children and their friends. She was a guardian angel to many and gave unselfishly. To know her, you knew that she was always there for everyone. God answered her prayer that he would take her before any of her children. We are convinced that the Almighty God has given Constance a special place in heaven for the kindness she has shown to so many.

Constance leaves her legacy to her seven devoted children, Floyd "Vernon" Benton (Terron), John "Levi" Benton (Vonderlitta), Constance Benton, Laverne Wise, Alonzo "Butch" Crum (Jewel), Kevin Crum (Felicia), Gary Crum and her godson, Melvin (Monk); seventeen grandchildren, Ricky, Floyd Jr., Allen, Rhonda, Tyeisha, Nyeisha, Alonzo, Javett, Karimah, Shabria, Kevin Jr., Tanika, Tyletta, Warren (Red Dog), and Keva who preceded her in death. Ms. Connie had two special grandsons that she raised, Keon and Lil Gary; that stayed by her side until the very end.
