The things we knew about my father that he loved to fish. That was his passion, his pastime and piece of mind. He always tried to get his son to enjoy fishing with him. Year after year he could never get him to go. In his youth, we were told that he liked to skate. Now we do not know how good, but he did enjoy it.
Columbus L. Taylor, aka Mr. Lover Boy, was one great person to many people. He protected the women in his family to the best of his abilities. He always made sure that his wife made home every single day. He would meet her at the bus stop and walk her home as all great husbands should be able to do.
He has worked for a few companies during his time. The Marine Terminal where he is mixing chemicals for the bay. Rockland Mini Blind, installing miniblinds in windows. His last job was Pyle Fence, installing fences.
In his later years, he loved to watch westerns. He could tell you about the episode before you even ask. The one western show he consistently watched, was the a father and son. It was just those two taking care of each other. He seemed to enjoy those shows the most. However, his greatest moment is spending time with his son. He allowed him to be comfortable, be tough and give some wisdom. Columbus' best moment is when he beat his son in basketball. He never gave him a rematch and will have a perfect record of 1-0. The legendary Skyhook was used to remind him that he was Dad and I was the son.
Columbus Taylor had started a new chapter in his life. On that faithful day on the subway, turned into a 28-year relationship combine with 13 years of being successfully married to Maxine “Tiny” Simth/Taylor. I can not say how important of a wife she has been. The greatest decision that he ever made was to marry her.
