CHRISTINE "TINA" DOLES quietly transitioned from this life on December 29, 2025. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Tina was the daughter of the late Hezekiah and Nannie Sue Swann. She was the matriarch of her family through and through rooted in family, faith and love.
Tina received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System and spent many years caring for others in various nursing assistant positions. She retired in 1988 from Long Green Nursing Center. Tina's life reflected acts of service as she showed love through helping hands, a kind heart, and a willingness to do for others.
A dedicated, long-term member of Gardner of Prayer Baptist Church, Tina faithfully served under the leadership of the late Rev. Melvin B. Tuggle Jr. She was a proud member of the Revelations Gospel Choir under Rev. Virginia Wise and found joy in listening to and singing old hymns and gospel songs. She also was honored as one of the mothers of the church.
Tina's presence was unforgettable. She enjoyed doing the dance named "The Dolo" at just the right moment and she did it well! She was also famous for her homemade 7 Up cake, a true family favorite that brought everybody to the kitchen. Tina loved shopping, traveling throughout the states and opening her Carswell Street home for gatherings filled with laughter, food, stories and love. That home was more than an address; it was a place where family stayed connected across generations.
Tina was first united in marriage to the late Alexander Doles, From this union came Lynetta, James, Jacqueline, Joyce, Leonard and Raynor Doles. After his passing, she later met and fell in love with James Ernest Scott. From their union came Karen, Carolyn, Michelle, Yvette, Rhonda and Cheryl and she was a loving stepmother to Ernest Scott.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hezekiah and Nannie Sue Swann; her children Lynetta, Jacqueline, Leonard, Raynor and Carolyn; brother Hezekiah; sisters Lavinia, Agnes and Lorraine.
Tina leaves to cherish her legacy; her eight children: a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren two sisters, Gertrude and Nancy; one brother, Wylie; sister-in-law, Ellen Swann; goddaughter, Macale Benton; godson, Tyrone Hamm; son-in-laws, Kirk Washington Sr. and John Chesley, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
