CHARLES WILLARD HENDERSON, affectionately known as "Chucky", son of the late William David Henderson, Sr. and late Lula Irene (Teachey) Henderson, was born on May 22, 1954, in Baltimore, Maryland. Charles was called home unexpectedly on December 4, 2024 after a long and courageous journey. His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Charles was a fighter, both in spirit and in action. He served his country with honor as a member of the United States Marine Corps, and dedicated his life to his community as a Baltimore City Correctional Officer and Federal Agent. His commitment to others was unwavering. However, his greatest battle came in the form of a sudden brain aneurysm, a devastating medical event that nearly took his life. For 57 days, Charles fought bravely in the NCCU at Johns Hopkins Hospital, enduring a series of trials and medical procedures. His perseverance, faith and determination were a testament to his strength, and by the grace of God, he was granted a few more precious months with his loved ones before his passing.

Charles was a man of faith and left behind a legacy that taught those around him to trust in God, even in the most difficult circumstances. His family and friends witnessed countless miracles during his recovery, and his life is a testament to the power of God's mercy.

An avid learner, Charles was passionate about education and personal growth. He attended Baltimore City Public Schools and continued his studies throughout his life. Before his illness, he was enrolled at Strayer University, where he was studying Artificial Intelligence and Computer Programming, with the aspiration of starting his own cybersecurity firm.

Charles career was as diverse as his interests. In addition to his military service, he worked as a Baltimore City Correctional Officer, a Field Agent for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and was employed with Allied Universal Security Company as a supervisor in the cybersecurity department. He was known for his dedication, work ethic, and the deep respect he earned from his colleagues and staff.

But perhaps what Charles was most beloved for was his sense of humor and infectious spirit. A natural comedian, he always found ways to bring laughter into every situation. Whether he was cracking jokes or breaking the ice, Charles could always be counted on to lift the spirits of everyone around him. Even in his final days. Charles still radiated warmth and comfort. His presence alone gave those around him a sense of peace and reassurance, a quiet reminder of the kindness, joy and strength that defined him throughout his life.

Charles was a true Gemini, with a boundless curiosity and inventive spirit. He was a connoisseur of music, particularly jazz and oldies, with a special fondness for artists like Earl Klugh. He could often be found playing his favorite tunes, ready to share his love for music with those around him. His passion for the outdoors and road trips was another defining feature of his life, with frequent trips to Georgia and North Carolina, where he found peace and joy in nature.

Charles leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and faith. He is survived by his children: David, Charles Jr., Rick, Ashanti, Jason, Brittany and Stephany, as well as his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Derrian and several siblings, including Katie, Lillie Mae, Willie Mae, Sheila, Matthew and James (Norton). He is also survived by his siblings; Robert (Bobby), William Jr. (Junior), Louella (Winky), Juanita (Tiny), Lawrence, Ebert (Ray), Lelia (Lee), Bernard, Herbert and Melvin Jones (brother in spirit), and a host of other family and friends.
