Ceciley B. Saunders favorably known to many as “BB”, Aunt B or Ma B was born on September 25, 1948 and departed this life on February 19, 2021. She was born to late Henry Farmer Sr. and Martha Houchins.
After the death of her mother at the age of three, she was continually raised by her father’s sister the late Ruth A. Farmer until adulthood.
Ceciley attended Baltimore City Public Schools. She graduated from Edmondson High School in 1966. She also attended Morgan State University. Ceciley moved to New York where she worked as a Salesclerk, Telephone Operator, and other small jobs. Later returning back to Baltimore, she had the opportunity to work in several fields: School Secretary, and Bank Teller. Her most rewarding work that she truly enjoyed was at the Charles H. Hickey School for troubled teens until they closed, and she went on to complete her assignment at the Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Detention Center until her retirement.
Ceciley was a member of the Garden of Prayer Christian Church under the leadership of the late Apostle Melvin B. Tuggle II, and now Pastor Brenda M. Tuggle. She was a faithful member until her illness made it difficult for her to attend services regularly. Even during her illness, she made a way to help others, share her ideas, knowledge and love with her family and friends. If you needed a helping hand, a place to stay (short term), a word of guidance or encouragement, she was your go to person. Only go to her if you could handle the truth. She never sugar-coated anything. Maybe you wanted Aunt B’s famous Butter Cake, she was more than willing to oblige you. If you knew her, you couldn’t help but love her.
She leaves to cherish her memory: four children; Saadia Hyman (Calvin), Milton Hutchins Sr., Christine Noble and the late Kevin Archer Sr., one sister; Patricia Griffin, stepmother; Ruth A. Farmer, four brothers; Franklin Houchins Jr. (Althea), James A. Jones, Harold Farmer (Sarah), Kenneth Farmer. Eighteen grandchildren; Alexis, Alisha, Anary, Keila, Kari, Ayana, Milton Jr., Salih, Da’Chanell, Ahmad, Shawn, Michael, Ryne, D’Asia, Derrick, Mekhi, Ky’Asia, Kevin Jr., seven great- grandchildren, two Godchildren; James Faulkner, Kenya Griffin, two devoted and dedicated cousins; Arica Royster (caregiver) and Mona Crawford, a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
