CATHERINE MARIE MOORE, departed her earthly life on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at 3:00pm, peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was 79 years of age. Catherine loved the loved the Lord! She was a dedicated member of the faith at New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church for over 37 years. Catherine was the daughter of the late Leslie Hall and the late Myrtle Tyler, of Baltimore, Maryland.
Catherine was affectionately called "Kitty". She attended Baltimore city Public Schools and was a graduate of Dunbar High School. She also furthered her education by taking vocational classes to become a skilled welder. Kitty met and dated Marvin Moore at a young age. Together they had six children. They were very excited about this union and were joined in holy Matrimony. Suddenly, after one year of marriage, Marvin passed away, and Kitty became a widow.
kitty held various jobs as a young woman. She was a dedicated hard worker no mater what the occupation. She worked as a cook, making venetian blinds, stacking pallets and as a skilled welder. kitty enjoyed working as a welder at Bethlehem Steel Sparrows Point Shipyard. Building Ships became her passion, and she was a powerhouse in the union, always fighting for safety conditions and better benefits for her fellow workers. Kitty was appointed to represent the finished product to the United States Navy with great honor. She retired after 25 years of dedicated service following the closing of Bethlehem Steel.
Kitty always had a fun house, and it was known to family and friends as "UP THE HOUSE"!! Every holiday, birthday and 24 hours a day was a reason to be at Kitty's house.. She enjoyed entertaining, cooking and decorating for all who came to the door. She enjoyed preparing for all sorts of gatherings. kitty developed many fruitful and long-term relationships with her coworkers, neighbors and church members, they too, were always welcome to her home.
Her love for her Children and family was endless. Her siblings, as well as her cousins, of whom there are many, were her best friends. They were often loving on each other, as sharing every moment together was a joy for them all. She delighted in Living life to the fullest.
Kitty was in a bowling league, she enjoyed roller skating, traveling, singing, dancing, reading, crossword puzzles, baking cookies, painting, dressing up and her favorite was watching Westerns until her death. You could find her rooting for the Ravens in her purple gear faithfully!
Catherine was preceded in death by her three siblings, Bertha, Leslie and Tyrone; son, Orlando; daughter, Maletha; and grandson, Lamell.
Kitty leaves to celebrate her life, three devoted daughters, Yolanda, Marvina (Vernon), Esther (Don); a devoted son, James; two loving sisters, Mary and Doretha (Wilbert), and her favorite sister-in-law, Mary Thompson; grandchildren, Kevin, Allen, Courtney, Leroy, Antoine, Andre, Angela, Andrea, Shana, Shantell and Dawn; great-grandchildren, Rashad, Kajuan, Tori, Allen Jr, Ahmoud, Amarie, Ahlana, Amir, Coumel, Aerian, Delaeni, Braelynn, Nicquel, Lawson, Eden, David, Nora, Aiyana, Aniyah, Teliyah, Justin, Aerie, Sean, Ariyah; great-great-grandchild, Kalani; two God daughters, Vanessa and Ciera; three special nieces, Romunda, Lisa and Diane; a host of cousins and friends.
