Cassandra Lestine Gross-Avent was born on June 3rd, 1950, in Baltimore to the late Jesse M. Fairfax-Watts and the late Hershal T. Gross. She also had a 2nd father whom she called DAD, the late Ellsworth Watts Sr., Sandy as all her family and friends called her was called home to glory on Tuesday January 9th, 2024, at the age of 73.

She was the oldest of 7 children.

She received her education in the Baltimore City school system.

As a child she attended Jones Tabernacle Baptist church and later joined St Paul community Baptist church.

Sandy began working at Carr-Lowrey glass Co. in the late 60's and later gained employment at John's Hopkins Hospital where she respectfully retired after devoting 35 years of her life.

She loved holidays decorating, cooking and getting together with family and friends family gatherings, and music of all genres especially gospel, Christmas, and if you really knew Aunt Sandy, you would have defiantly known that "Luther Vandross" was her favorite r&b singer whom she truly adored, because she never showed up to a gathering without his CD's. And expected to play them over and over again which got on Twiggy nerves, but Twiggy would be right there with her singing word for word.

In 1964, she met the late Emmanuel M. Young Sr. and from this union gave birth to the late Emmanuel M. Young Jr.

Cassandra was proceeded in death by late(husbands), Warren Johnson and Mark Greene, (brothers) David White and Ellsworth Watts Jr. (sisters) Avon Hudson and Delarese Watts-Conaway and her two dogs: Tabitha and Baby.

She leaves to cherish her memories, husband; Gene Avent, sisters: Joyce Hudson and Kim Watts-Moore, brother in laws: Alonzo Moore and Roland Conaway, granddaughters; Chancey Young-Thompson and Amanda Young; great grandchildren: Chamya, Serenity, Emmanuel, Brandon and Brein. Favorite great nephew: Sampson Ashby Jr. whom she adored, always calling him handsome. One grandson in law: Brian Thompson. Her precious dog, Toby and a host of family and friends.
