Listen to Obituary

We pause to pay tribute and celebrate the beloved life of Carroll Brown.  With hearts of grief and mounds of sadness, we mourn his passing but celebrate his life and shall carry his legacy and many memories.

Carroll M. Brown the son of the late Wilkins and Betty Brown was born on November 9, 1949, in  Hartsville South Carolina. He suddenly departed this life on November 11, 2018.

Carroll was known as Carl or Mr. Brown received his education in Hartsville, S.C. and Baltimore City Public Schools.  In 1970 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.

In 1973 he became a bus driver for Baltimore City Schools, transporting students with special needs.  In 1975 at one of his school stops, he met Darlene who was also working with special needs students. He told Darlene that upon meeting her he went home and told his mother that he met the girl that was going to be his wife. They were married on June 25, 1983.

What made their relationship so special was respect, communication, commitment, compromise and their love for each other.  He was a dedicated man and when his family began to grow, he moved on from the school system and began a successful career as a tractor-trailer driver.  He drove on the road for several years until he was offered a position at Giant Foods. After thirty years of service, he retired to build his dream home down south.

Mr. Brown was an exceptional person. He was a devoted husband, an incredible father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  Let us not forget he was also a remarkable brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend. His greatest love was his wife, children, grand & great grandchildren and his hometown of South Carolina.

He enjoyed cooking at home and all family events (and oh how he loved to cook).  He had a gift of being able to repair any and everything. He gave advice to the young and old.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Darlene, two sons Emanuel (Darnell) Capers & Troy. Two grandchildren Brianna & Eian. One great-grandson Cayden.

Three brothers (Michael, Timothy, Theodore) one sister (Doris), three aunts, six sisters-in-law,  five brothers-in-law and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews and one special childhood friend Charles Rogers and one special cousin Luke Jones.
