Listen to Obituary

CARRIE PRISCELLA BAILEY, was born on May 22, 1938. She was the first born child to the late Pauline Fair and Alfred Crew. After a lengthy illness, she was called home on Saturday, June 22, 2024.

Carrie received her education through The Baltimore City Public Schools System, graduating from St. Francis Academy. She was also a faithful member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church throughout her life.

Carrie enjoyed years of working for Donut Delight Bakery in South Baltimore City. Before then, she worked as a daycare center Aide.

Carrie, affectionately known by everyone as Granny or Gran was a feisty woman that everybody loved dearly. She's the type that says what she wants, when she wants, to whom she wants...but she had a heart of gold. To know her was to love her and if you met her, you'll never forget her. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. Gran loved collecting elephants. She had so many different elephants in shapes, sizes and color. People would gift her with elephants from all over the world.

Gran enjoyed playing a friendly game of cards with family. She also liked going to Bingo, but she loved going to any and every Casino. She would walk around that store for hours and wouldn't buy anything. Gran enjoyed being outside, even if it's just to sit on the porch or in the yard. She wasn't staying in the house for nobody.

Carrie was preceded in death by her husband, James Bailey Sr.; mother, Pauline Fair; father, Alfred Crew; one daughter, Alfreda Venable; two sons, Ryan Bailey and James Bailey; one grandson, Ralph Bailey; one great grandson, Michael Jackson Jr.; one great granddaughter, Shanniah Boone; six brothers, Dennis, Gregory, Edwin, Purnell, Alfred and Joseph; and two sisters, Carol and Renita.

She leaves to cherish her memories through her daughters, Victoria Venable and Annette Bailey; one son, Dennis Bailey (Annette); one bonus daughter, Deena Skinner; three brothers, Dr. Rubin McClain, Michael McClain (Adrianne), Alfred Cornish; three sisters, Amelia Jones, Michonne Fair and Rochonne Fair; seventeen grandchildren, Vonetta, Anissa, Antanette, Tyesha, Alicia, Danyetta, Dia, Arnetta, Veonna, Arnise, Anydia, Philmon, Ron, Teddrick, Dennis, James, and Malik; twenty-five great grandchildren, Raekwon, Raquan, Damonde, Da'ionna, Amireona, Richard, Ahmaad, Shawn, Kiera, Shannon, Akayla, Mykell, Samiah, Jayden, Malik Jr., Syree, Samorah, Arnae, Chase, Sariyah, Zoe, Nova, Leya, Luna and Lavender; four great-great grandkids, Daonna, Amirah, Harmony and Alijah; one aunt, Shirley Fields; two favorite cousins, Patsy Fields and Denise Fordham; one god son, Adrian Garrison; a devoted friend, Shirley Henson Logan and host of other relatives and friends.
