CARL LEON STAPLES SR., a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and Godfather, was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on January 4, 2025.
Carl was born February 4, 1963, in Baltimore, MD. at City Hospital to Charlie and Doris Staples. He gave his life to Christ at an early age at Grace Baptist Church; later he joined Faith United Baptist Church during his adult years. He received his education from the Baltimore City Public School System. During his senior year of high school, he enlisted in the United States Army on September 18, 1980. and was honorably discharged on February 9, 1983.
After returning home from the military, Carl and his high school sweetheart, Sheila Peterson, welcomed three children, Lamont Sr., Carl Jr., and Sierra. Carl worked for many companies, such as Saint Vincent's Villa, Signet Operations, Kennedy Krieger Institute and rapid response delivery.
Carl enjoyed many hobbies, including watching sports (basketball being #1), listening to music, dancing, building model cars and spending time with his family and friends. He had an undeniable swag that couldn't be missed.
Carl was preceded in death by his mother, Doris A. Staples; brother Marvin A. Hazzard Sr.; and nephew Tavon Holmes.
He leaves to cherish his memory; Father Charlie Staples, a special friend, Sheila; sons Lamont Sr. and Carl Jr., (Shatarra), daughter Sierra (Fred), nine grandchildren; Lamont Jr., Jaziyah, Kei' Mori, Zion, Kai, Carsyn, Isaiah, Kamryn & Cali, brother, Larry (Barbara) Hazzard, sister Linda (Charlie) Jackson, aunt Emma Pembroke, friends Shawn, Terrance, Dale, Tunde, nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
