At the break of day and the dusk of dawn, Our Lord and Savior called our beloved CALVIN H. SAMPSON, SR. home to rest.
Calvin was born October 14, 1941, and was the next to the youngest son of the late John West Sr. and Tressie Slacum Sampson. He attended Maces Lane High School and graduated in 1960. Calvin was inducted into the Army in January, 1964 and honorably discharged in January, 1966. He was employed by Western Printing, Bethlehem Steel and Baltimore City Public Schools. In 1973, he was joined in marriage to the late Delores A. Sampson.
Calvin's passion was tinkering on cars, watching westerns, listening to Oldie but Goodies, playing cards and playing Poker Keno. He loved to drink coffee and watch Walker Texas Ranger with his grandson, T. J. He also loved to shop with his cousin, Weedy.
Eleven brothers preceded him in death, Leon, Alexander, Willie, Nathaniel, William, Garfield, Joe Louis, Andrew, Frank, Ronald, John West Jr.; one sister, Ella Mae; one son, Efrem and close cousin, Dolores Inman.
Our beloved Calvin leaves to mourn his memory: one daughter and one son-in-law, Cicely (Tyrice); one son and one daughter-in-law, Calvin, Jr.(Aishia); four grandchildren, Antwan Jr., Calvin III, Efrem Jr. and Tykerra; two sisters, Barbara Cummings and Elaine Stafford; five sisters-in-law, Betty Sampson, Pensacola Sampson, Roberta Sampson, Diane Sampson and Geneva Wongus. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Among them are Sarah Jenkins (cousin), Terry Johnson (son), Walter Austin Jr, (son), Andre
Lipscomb (godson), Carol Ruffner (his Twinkles) and Ashley Veney (the apple of his eye).
