Listen to Obituary

I'm "King Tank" and this is my story...I was actually born Byron D. Backmon, the third born son of the late Curtis L. Backmon, Sr. and Alesia Backmon. I came into this life with a BANG on September 18, 1989 in Baltimore, Maryland. I'm sure my parents knew I was going to be a KING from the first time they looked at me.

I knew early on that I needed brother Jesus in my like, so I went ahead and accepted him and got baptized in 1998, under the leadership of Bishop Leroy Gilliard, Jr. As a youngin, I was a member of The Mount Carmel Baptist Church Youth Choir. Yeah! That's right! Ya Boy was on the choir! I even lead a couple of songs. I also attended Sunday School on the regular.

I received my education in The Baltimore City Public School System, and was a proud graduate of Merganthaler Vocational Technical High School, where my trade was Carpentry. After High School, I worked a lot of jobs, so I'm not gonna sit and name every one of them...but was currently working for Roanes & Riggins Inc. doing construction.

My family thought I was a fool and sometimes wondered if my mother dropped me on my head as a baby. It's one of those things that makes you go, "Hmmm." Ma Dukes, Did You?! My family would also say that I loved me some midgets. Maaannn I'm gonna MISS them midgets. Hopefully GOD got some up there for me to laugh and joke with. They might also tell you that I was a bit disrespectful, with no filter at times, but I'm just a man who likes to have fun and ironically my disrespectfulness brought joy to other people. And for those of you who follow me on Social Media, y'all know that I also love my T.B's and if you don't know what that is and really want to know, just ask somebody who knows.

I ain't have no wife, but I did sit still long enough to create my beautiful pricess Ry Ry, who will be ten years old this July. I hope she knows that she was the joy of my life and one of my biggest accomplishments.

I've been doing music since I was a young Whippa Snappa Rappin was my thing. Ma Duke's basement was the lab, that's where I made some of my best beats. The Throne (AKA The Toilet) is where I wrote some of my best lyrics. Those beats and lyrics were performed by some local artists, such as, Tate Kobang and Peso Da Mafia. I also wrote beats and lyrics for my "FAV". I had my own group called "Mostly Hated" but I was a part of other groups like, CGM (Cool Gang Music) and Rare Crowns. My ultimate plan with my music was to get a building and open up a studio, where othet artists could do their thing, but looks like GOD had different plans.

So for now, I'm sittin up here with my feet kicked up. Coolin it with the REAL KING, brother Jesus and'em, Pops (Curtis L. Backmon, Sr.), Pop Pop (Richard Harrison, Sr.), uncle Quent (Quentin Backmon), Uncle Kennard (Kennard Harrison), Amie (Andre Backmon), and my guy Booda (Jamal Backmon, Jr.).

And even though I'm kickin it with the real King, I still got my eyes on my baby girl, A'Ryon Dakota J'Nyja; Ma Dukes, Alesia; my four bothers; my bad, I mean my three brothers and sister (HaHa!); Curtis, Jamal and Cierre Backmon and Javanis Moses; two sisters-in-love, Char'von Davis and Victoria Enchia; grandmothers, Naomi Harrison and Lois Backmon; grandfather, Curtis Lee Backmon (Lily); uncles, Richard Harrison (Nicole) Avery Jones (Tracey), Norman (Dawn) and Andre Backmon; nine nieces and nephews, Jaylen, Ameerah, Zyara, Amhad, Michael, Lisa, Adrian, Tyriq and Akira; godmother, Myra Cheeks and godsister and godbrother Maya and Aaron Cheeks. I am also watching over my "FAV" (Monica Haun) and My Dawgs, Marquise Worthington, Corohn Harrison and Gray Haun. I certainly cannot forget about my sistacousins and BroBro's and the army of other family members, cousins and friends. I'm gonna miss you all, but I will see you all again, over on the other side.

So on that note, don't be sad for me because I'M about to have Eternal Taco Tuesdays, and my Christian Mingle account is about to be LIT!
