Brenda Jenkins was born to George Jenkins (Deceased) and Shirley Poteat in Charlotte Courthouse,Va. On 11.25.2020 she was called home to Glory.
She attended Randolph Henry High School where she played on the girls basketball team. She also was an excellent student who loved numbers. She was the oldest daughter of seven. In her young adult years she and her only child, a son, Rodney relocated to Baltimore, Md. Always aspiring to be a nurse, she enrolled at BCCC. During which time she began her work career as a CNA at Homewood on 12.24.1984. Building on her dream of becoming a nurse she took on other positions at the facility she grew to love being a part of. Along the way someone saw her ability with numbers. She was trained in a very short time to take on the challenging task as Stang Manager. The position she held until her untimely passing, just a month shy of 36 years of service.
Brenda loved the Lord. She loved talking about Him and his word. She believed in Jesus.
She was a longtime member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where she learned and studied the bible, under the guidance of Bishop Leroy Gillard and Reverend Minister Christine Gillard, whom she loved and respected very highly. She was a member of several choirs as well. She loved Wednesday night bible study. She loved her church family as they loved her.
Brenda leaves four brothers Douglas Jenkins(Betty), James Jenkins(Decease), Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Jenkins, Danny Jenkins (Nellie); two sisters, Pattie Jenkins, Shentel Pulliam(Carlton); one son Rodney Jenkins; one granddaughter Nautica Jenkins and a host of nieces, nephew's, other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
