Listen to Obituary

A limb has fallen from the family tree that says grieve not for me, but remember the best times, the laughter, that we shared, and the song The Good Life I lived while I was STRONG.

We paused to celebrate the beloved life of Betty Ann Mahomes with hearts of grief and great sadness. We mourn her passing, but celebrate her life by carrying on her legacy along with our many memories.

Betty Ann Mahomes, daughter of the late Howard and Bertha Mahomes was born on December 4, 1954 in Baltimore, Maryland. She peacefully slipped into the arms of her savior on Friday, April 8, 2022. Betty was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. She worked at the Johns Hopkins University Club’s Homewood Campus as a hostess. Betty attended Grace Memorial Baptist Church where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very young age.

Betty adored her daughter Juanita. Juanita and her grandson Alex were her world. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She shared a special bond with her nieces and nephews. Betty was a great counselor, she gave great advice, and always held onto everyone’s secrets. She also had a strong affection for the children in her neighborhood, a passion for cooking, and a deep fondness for her beloved feline, Phyllis.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy: a loving devoted daughter Juanita Mahomes (Alexander Brown); grandson, Alexander D. Brown; great-granddaughters, Alaya Brown-Wilson and Kaelynn Brown; sisters, Diane, Elizabeth (Cleve), and Darlene; brothers, Howard Jr., Allen (Chestine), Jerome, and Costello; brothers, Larry, Tyrone and brother in-law Brown preceded her in death. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Betty was always a true friend. She made impactful friendships from all walks of life. She will be lovingly missed by everyone who knew her.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8 NLT
