BESSIE LEE COLEMAN MCDANIEL, (affectionately known as Blab) was born April 14, 1940, to the late Charles William Coleman Sr. and Lelia Bell Coleman in Chester, South Carolina. She departed this life on June 9, 2021, after a lengthy illness.
She received her education in Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from Dunbar High School. In 2018, Bessie proudly celebrated her 50th high school reunion.
Bessie worked several positions throughout her lifetime as a Nursing Assistant, Dietician and Clerk. She retired from Westinghouse after 35 years of employment.
Bessie was a founding member of the Bumble Bees social club. She was the life of the party everywhere she went and had a love for music. Her favorite artists were The Isley Brothers, Barry White and Kirk Franklin. She loved to sing "Who's That lady". Bessie was unapologetic in her approach with words. She would often let you know she was "beautiful and qualified". Bessie always encouraged her nieces and nephews to stay the course and if they didn't, there would be remorse. She was the Matriarch and loved her family dearly. She will truly be missed by family and friends.
Bessie was preceded in death by her brothers; Clifton Coleman, Charles William Coleman Jr. (Charlie), Harold Coleman (Flute), Burley Coleman (BC) and Andrew Coleman (Juice); one sister, Jean Coleman; a brother-in-law, Jesse E. Stokes and a lifelong partner; John "Popcorn" Mclendon.
She leaves to cherish her memory two children; Kim Charelle Coleman and Terry McDaniel Jr., a surviving sister and best friend; Gloria Ann Stokes (Kelly), four sister-in-law's; Joan Coleman (Harold), Terri Coleman (Burley), Deborah Coleman Burrus (Andrew) and Eva Mark (Charles), seven grandchildren; Terry McDaniel III, Terrell McDaniel Sr., Ieshia McDaniel, Dajanai Myers, Desiree Myers, Ryejae Myers and Tyrek McDaniel, four great-grandchildren; Tyasia McDaniel, Terrell McDaniel Jr., Monroe Montgomery and Milan Glenn,a son-in-love; Reginald Myers, two special friends; Velva Foster and Daisy Scott and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
