BERTHA MAE BELL, daughter of the late Sara Jane Chisolm and Elloss Wylie born on April 15, 1931 in Fairfield, County South Carolina. She was the oldest sister of twelve children. She had several of her siblings that preceded her in death. Along with her children who proceeded her in death. Along with her children who proceeded her in death, Albert, Thomas, Michelle and Teresa Bell, and her grandson Thomas Morton Sr., also her daughter in law Clara Bell proceeded her in death.

Bertha received her education in Fairfield County, South Carolina.

Bertha accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Red Hill Baptist Church in South Carolina under the leadership of the late Rev. Charles Lane.

After relocating to Baltimore, Maryland, Bertha became a faithful and dedicated member of New Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Witt Black. As one of the founders and charter members she then became a member of Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in 1982, under the leadership of Rev. J. R. Halsey. She was a deaconess, vice president of willing workers, leader of Manna Ministry and an usher, now she was under the leadership of Dr. Reginald Thomas.

She loved to praise the Lord and she didn't mind showing it Bertha always spoke her mind to anyone. She loved wearing hats to church.

She married Albert Bell in 1945 from this union 4 children were born Albert Jr., Nichelle, Thomas G and Michael.

Bertha worked as a Food Services Technician for Baltimore City Public Schools for 30 years until she retired in 1995.

She loved food and cooking for her family and friends especially for outings. She was known as the BEST cooks. Most of all Bertha was the eldest and the Matriarch of the family.

Bertha had a special relationship with her granddaughter Cyvelle Bell and her best friend Mrs. Woods.

She leaves to cherish her memory and loving legacy ; one son, Michael Bell Sr.; four sisters, Rebecca Foster, Jessie Davis, Estelle Foster and Doretha Perry; her loving grandchildren, Kim Bell, Roderick Bell (Cyvell), Kevin Bell, Michael Bell Jr., Lanayah Bell, Lakia, Levern Perrin Jr., Denise Hadley, Christopher Elmore, Minister Malik Albay, and the late Henry Pervit; god daughter, Nancy Neil; best friend; sister, Claudine Woods and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
