Listen to Obituary

Bertha Lee Curtis Day was born March 24, 1940.  She gained her wings July 1, 2025. Weady as she was loving called, lived in St Mary’s County until she graduated from Banneker High.

She then moved to Baltimore, I believe a second after she turned 18.  Her goal was to become a nurse, where she studied at Lutheran Hospital.  That endeavor was not fulfilled but she stayed in healthcare as a nursing assistant for 30+ years.

Bertha loved the lord and loved to serve however she could. She fellowshipped with Zion Baptist Church for many years.  Where she was a bible school teacher, Boy Scout Leader and Mentor to young girls. As she got older and technology got smarter,  Weady got dressed in her church attire and watched  her service on Youtube.

Bertha met and married Clifton (Sonny) Day Jr. September 16, 1962. Shortly after giving birth to Selena in July 1963.  Weady wanted a house full of children; however, God had a plan of his own. Even though they were not her biological children she helped raise many. Jaycee was one of many that came into our lives.  This gave Sonny and Weady the boy and girl they desired. The house was always full of love, fun and laughter when her sister, nieces and nephews would come over. Weady's pastime was reading, and word search books. Her favorite book was the Bible.

Bertha was preceded in death by her late husband Clifton Day, her mother Rebecca Curtis, her father Joseph Curtis, her sisters Isabelle and Frances and her brothers Thomas and Ralph Sr.

Bertha leaves to mourn her daughter Selena Noble, son, Joseph Curtis (Pamela), sisters, Dorothy Curtis and Glady Hawkins, bonus children Joseph Smith, Peter Smith, Cheryl Hagens and Francine Cameron (Kevin). Grandchildren Gabriel, Sareeta (Dewayne),Sherhonda and Alexis. great grandchildren, Gabriel J, Marcus, Kamryn, Serenity, Danielle and MeSean; brother in law,  Alexander Day (Connie), sister-in-law, Mary and a host of relatives, friends, and extended grandchildren.
