Bernice Brannon, daughter of the late Samuel and Martha Brannon, was born on March 17, 1934 in Baltimore, Maryland. After a brief bout of illness, she received her crown on May 2, 2021.
Bernice was educated in the Baltimore City Public School system. In 1964 she became employed at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she remained until her retirement in 1996.
Bernice married her eternal love Ashley Barber on January 18, 1970. During this union they raised five children, Elzina, Will, Marsha, Joseph, and Elvona. They remained forever bonded until he received his crown in 1993. After retiring she loved traveling to different places with her family. Atlantic City was one of her most favorite places to visit, she would often take trips there to play the slot machines. Bern (as she was affectionately known) had a natural born ability to nurture. This led her to become a caregiver for smaller children in her spare time for family and friends alike.
She will forever be remembered for caring and providing for family members well beyond the realm of her immediate Household.
Her memory will live on through her daughter and son in-law Elzina and James McNeil; grandchildren, Ailsa, Lawrence, Anisha, Laetitica, Jeannette, James, Stacey, Tracey, Troya, Joseph Jr. and Andrea (deceased); twenty great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who all adored her.
