Bernard L. Robinson

BERNARD LEROY ROBINSON, son of the late David and Lillian Robinson, was born on March 16, 1933, in Wilmington, Delaware. He departed this earthly lifr on February 26, 2024. On that day, there was not a cloud in the sky.

At an early age, he gave his life to Christ at Shiloh Baptist Church in Wilmington, DE where he served on the usher board. Later in life, he joined Memorial Baptist Church, where he was a loyal and faithful member for 16 years. Bernard was also a loyal and active supporter of the Men's Ministry.

He received his formal education through the New Castle County School System, graduating in 1951 from Howard High School. In 1953, he joined the United States Army where he served in the Korean Conflict. Throughout his military term Bernard also served in Paris until he was honorably discharged in 1955.

After completion of his military service Bernard worked at Super Music on Gay Street in Baltimore. During his tenure there he was promoted to manager. This is most likely where his love for music began. He enjoyed the classics, listening to the sounds of Sarah Vaugh, Billy Epstein among others not only brought him "harmony" but also a sense of "peace". For many years, he was a machinist at Westinghouse in Baltimore until his retirement in 1994.

In 2011, he was joined in holy matrimony to Mary Weaver.

Bernard absolutely loved spending time with his family and friends, often entertaining and hosting large parties, including the infamous annual New Year's Day Party where he always curated the finest menu. He was a great storyteller and would leave any audience captivated with tales of his childhood, his time in the military and his world travels. He loved taking his great granddaughter to school and cooking with her, and he would joke that she kept him young. He especially loved horse races and would spend his days at the Pimlico Race Course, where he built an expansive group of friends that became family.

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents; David and Lillian Robinson; his aunt and uncle, Nettie and Samuel Clayborn; brother, William "Billy" Robinson and grandson, Devin L. Robinson, Jr. Those remaining to forever treasure the legacy of his life and love are his devoted wife, Mary Magaline "Madeline" Robinson of the home; his children, Bernard Brown of Wilmington, DE, Linda Robinson-Hill of Washington, DC and Devin Robinson of Baltimore; four grandchildren, Bernetta, Alan, Iesha and Thomas "TJ"; one great-grandchild, Blossom; his siblings, Doris Flowers, Charles "Charlie" Robi9nson (Idella), and Gloria Noel (John); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends and race track buddies
