Bernard M. Hatcher was born on July 29, 1939 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late James and Eta Hatcher. He was one of seven children. After a lengthy illness, on the evening of June 3, 2023, Bernard was called to eternal rest with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Bernard, affectionately known as “Hatch” was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools. He attended and graduated from Dunbar Senior High School. After school, he worked and retired from the Crown Cork and Seal Company. Bernard accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He later joined Israel Baptist Church. There he served as a Deacon, a member of the Men’s Choir and on the Culinary Ministry.

Bernard was wedded in Holy matrimony to Doris Mosby. They have been married for 61 years. From this union there is one daughter, Cheryl and two son’s Vincent and Brian. He also has a son from a previous relationship, Bernard Griffin.

Bernard loved the game of Baseball. He not only taught his children how to play, he taught and coached many other children at the Northwood Baseball League. Bernard became the “Commissioner” of the league.
