Barbara J Sawyer

BARBARA JEAN SAWYER was the oldest of four children born to the late Ebe and Sarah Helen Sawyer on August 9, 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland. After a brief illness, she departed this life on November 7, 2018.

Barbara Jean received her formal education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She was the first female to join Job Corps in 1969. After her schooling, she was employed for many years as an automobile detail specialist. She also worked briefly in hospitality at a Bob Evans restaurant.

She was a member of faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church under the leadership of Pastor Lucille Calloway. She served faithfully on the housekeeping staff and as a member of the usher board. Since she lived across the street for many years, we could count on her to be the watchman for the church.

Barbara Jean was a kind and pleasant person. She was always helpful and giving. She was free hearted to a fault. If you liked it, she would give it to you.

Oftentimes, while the saints attended Noonday prayer, they would come out to find that Barbara Jean had washed their cars.

She loved music. She often worked with music playing in her ears. She also loved good food. One year, she visited a cousin in South Carolina and had a wonderful time. When she got home, she delightfully talked about their southern hospitality that left her happy, rested and fat.

Barbara Jean leaves to mourn and cherish her memory: two brothers, Ebie and Carl and sister-in-law, Sally; four devoted cousins, Annie Mae Suber, Ed, Sonny and Danny Owens; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
