Audrey Goode Bell, daughter of the late Willie Goode and Annie Harrison Goode-Ruffin, was born on June 18, 1926 in Portsmouth, Virginia. She departed this .Goode-Ruffin, was born on June 18, 1926 in Portsmouth, Virginia. She departed this
life on Saturday, April 23, 2016 after a lengthy illness at Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital.
Audrey received her education in Sussex County, Virginia Schools. She was baptized at the age of 10 at Wilborne Baptist Church in Waverly, Virginia. Audrey was one of six children; three which preceded her in death, Delilah Pickard,
Lawrence Goode and her twin brother Roland Goode.
Audrey moved to Baltimore, Maryland. She was employed by the Wallmuth and Rosenbloom families where she served as a housekeeper and nanny. She later worked for Rawleys Clothing Manufactor. Audrey earned her degree in childhood education at Antioch University now known as Sojourner-Douglass College. She went on to become a teachers aid at Baltimore City Public School System for 21 years until retirement.
In 1950, Audrey met the love of her life, Frank Bell. They were united in holy matrimony on September 27, 1952. Audrey and Frank were blessed to adopt their daughter Candace in 1983.
Audrey loved the Lord. She would tell anybody about the goodness of God. She was a member of Southern Baptist Church where she served as president of the Senior Choir. She joined Faith Baptist Church where her husband was already a member. Audrey became the first lady of Seven Angels Baptist Church after Frank was called
to Pastor. She was also first lady of Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church until Frank retired from pastoring. Audrey and her family joined Grace Memorial Baptist Church in 1998. She served as a missionary, volunteered at the soup kitchen, and was a member of the Golden Disciples Ministry.
Audrey was a member of several organizations. A life member of the Women's Auxiliary of the UBMC of Maryland. Life member and past president of the Gold Leaf Club. An active member of MWMWA of Baltimore and Vicinity, International and
Interdenominational MWMW and Greater Baltimore MWMW.
Audrey lived a happy and prosperous life. She would light up a room with her great sense of humor and contagious laugh. She was a dressing lady. She loved clothes, shoes and hats. She had a marvelous wardrobe. She loved to cook and entertain and was famous for her fried chicken, greens and potato salad. Audrey loved her family
and her church family as she was affectionately called "Ma Bell". She will be greatly
missed, but her memory shall live on forever.
Audrey leaves to cherish her memory: loving husband of 63 years, Rev Frank Bell; daughter, Candace Bell; two grandchildren, Paul and Aaliyah Williams; two devoted and loving sisters, Sophronia Goode (Waverly,VA) and Lucy Goode Hawkins (Norfolk, VA); foster brother, Garland Johnson (Waverly, Va); two nephews, Darrold
Goode (Springfield, VA) and Aaron Goode (Arlington, VA); two nieces, Cassandra
"Sandy" Goode-Brazier (Baton Rouge, LA) and Rosemarie "Ginny" Goode (Springfield, Va); two great nieces, Maya Goode (Alexandria, VA) and Shannon Goode (College Park, MD); son-in-law, Elmer Rosales; favorite cousin, Mammie Goode-Gay (Virginia Beach, VA); and a host of other relatives and friends.
