Listen to Obituary

AUDREY ALSTON was born on April 10, 1942 in Baltimore, MD to the late Charles and Elizabeth Johnson. Audrey received her education in Baltimore City Public School System and also was a member of the Baltimore City Marching Band along with her sister Francis Wylie. Audrey truly loved to sing, dance and dress her tail off. Audrey received her High School Diploma from Carver Vocational Technical High School. Audrey worked as a Medical Secretary in several hospitals in Maryland before moving to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she continued her career in healthcare. Audrey also spent several years in Richmond, Virginia with her sister Frances Wylie and Niece Karen "Candi" Wylie. After Audrey retired she returned to Baltimore, MD where she resided in a Senior Citizen development where she also worked as a front desk receptionist and gained many friends.

Affectionately known as Aunt Audrey to the scores of nieces and nephews born to her 11 older brothers and sisters. A charismatic persona made Aunt Audrey a favorite at family gatherings during her younger years. Her distinctive laugh earned her the nickname "Cricket" from those she worked with. She was fond of the color pink and enjoyed relaxing in her recliner, watching Turner Classic Movies while munching on UTZ Potato Chips and sipping Pepsi, knitting blankets, mittens and hats was her go to along with shopping, dining and ordering out. Cooking was NOT. Babysitting her first great grandchild Carly "Pooda" Mc Ghee gave her added purposed before poor health began to befall her.

Audrey is preceded by 10 siblings Gladys Johns, Lawrence Johnson, Bernard Johnson, Louise Handy, Hazel Beverly, Charles Johnson Jr., Evelyn Cooper, Shirley Lyles, Dorothy Fields, Lucille Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memories, one sister, Francis Wylie; two children, Eric Alston and Elisia Alston-Watson; one son-in-law, Wendell Watson; five grandchildren, Ashley Mcghee, Carlos Mcghee, Ryan Parham, Jamison Alston, Sade Watson and Alliah Dorsey; seven great grandchildren, Carley, Casey McGhee, Janeil Commander, Munirah Brewington, Kamari Knight, Amir Dorsey and Makiyah Green; she is also survived by a plethera of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
