ANNA SAVILLA DAVIS BOSTON lived a life anchored in faith, service, intellect, and love. With deep roots in Baltimore City, she devoted herself to community, education, and family with steadfast grace and strength. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched-as an educator, wife, mother, friend, mentor and believer.

Born on September 7, 1936, in Baltimore, Maryland, Anna was the eldest of two children born to Lottie Alvena and Samuel Eliot Davis. Her younger sister, Charlene, arrived twelve years later, and from early on, Anna showed remarkable promise. Surrounded by a family of educators, she developed a lifelong love for learning, leadership and excellence. She graduated high school at just 16 years old and completed college by age19-a testament to her diligence and intellect.

It was at Frederick Douglass High School, one of Baltimore's three Black high schools at the time, that Anna met the love of her life. J. Edward ("Ed") Boston. Anna was in the class of 1952 and Ed in 1954. Anna and Ed were married on April 18, 1960, at the parsonage of Memorial Baptist Church by Reverend C. Edward Browne. This year marked their 66th wedding anniversary-a rare and treasured milestone. 

Anna and Ed raised three children: Charlotte, Jay (James Jr.) and Joel. She poured her love and wisdom into her family, insisting on the value of education, independence, and self-respect. A creative soul Anna loved crafting and homemaking. She was an accomplished cook, famous for the cakes that lewft family and friends longing for "just one more slice. Family weekends often meant camping trips to Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina or road trip to Columbia, South Carolina, to visit relatives. In her later years Anna became deeply interested in genealogy, tracing her family's lineage back eight generations to Africa.

Anna's professional life was rooted in her passion for education. Following in the footsteps of her aunts, Catherine Thomas and Rosa Williams, she devoted 35 years to shaping young minds in the Baltimore City Public School Systems. Her career spanned several schools-including Schools 116, 149 and 101, later becoming an administrators at Schools 122, Benjamin Locker man and finally Harlem Park, from which she retired in 1990. 

Anna's faith was the anchor of life. A devoted Christian, she embodied the words of 2 Timothy 2:15; "Study to show thyself approved unto God. She faithfully served both Memorial Baptist Church and, through marriage, Historic St. James Episcopal Church. At Memorial, she sang with the Senior Choir, served as a Deaconess, Trustee and Vacation Bible School instructor. Anna and her sister Charlene became known for their "Pound Cake Ministry" sharing homemade desserts at church gatherings and comforting families in times of bereavement.

Anna's life extended far beyond the classroom and church walls. A proud and trusted member of the National Phi Delta Kappa Sorority, Incorporated. (NSPDK) since 1987,she held several leadership roles including Vice President of the chapter. Her community engagement included active participation in; Child Study Group, (ABCPSR), Red Hatters, Zonta International, (MRSPA), (FDHSAA,Inc.) Her passion for genealogy even took her to Columbia, South Carolina and Salt Lake City, Utah, where she conducted research at the Mormon Family History Library.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Samuel and Lottie Alvena Davis, and her cherished son Joel Boston. She leaves to celebrate her remarkable legacy; her devoted husband, Ed Boston; loving daughter, Charlotte Boston; son, Jay (Alana) Boston; sister, Charlene Davis; three sisters-in-law, Faye Rowe, Debra Boston and Robin Boston; grandchildren, Janet Taylor and Joshua Boston; great grandchildren, Taylor and Brendon Boston; aunt, Celestine "Tine" Gordon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends. Her guiding light will continue to shine through every life she touched through the words she spoke, the lessons she taught, and the love she so freely gave.
