Angela Y. Cunningham, affectionately known as Nat, or Nan Nan to her grandchildren, was born on April 14, 1961, in Athens, Georgia to Ray and Cora Cunningham, who provided a canvas for the life of Angela Cunningham. She moved to Baltimore at a very young age where she went on to create a life for her own family.
Nat accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at a young age. She attended New Second Baptist Missionary Church, under the leadership of Dr. Felton Williams on E. Lanvale Street. She sang in the choir, “Price Sounds of Joy”. She later attended First Mount Olive Freewill Baptist Church.
Angela attended Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from Harbor City Learning City, where she received her high school diploma. She furthered her education at Strayer Business College in which she received her Associates Degree in Business.
She worked numerous jobs but mainly worked for Maryland Transportation Administration and within the Baltimore City Public School System.
She was blessed with three children and six grandchildren who brought great joy and happiness to her life and heart.
If you knew Angela, then you know she loved to gamble, and eat crabs (Nat would eat 12 crabs to your 2). She loved the slot machines, playing bingo and playing cards (Tunk, Pitty Pat and Deuces); but most of all she loved her family. She loved family gatherings and spending time with her biological and extended family. Angela was loving, caring and affectionate. She has always provided shelter (her home was the link up) and has been there in everyone’s time of need. If you were in trouble, “call Nat”,as she was the go to person and everyone’s favorite. She was always there to be a listening ear and whether you liked it or not, she was going to tell you the truth (What God Loves, as she would say). She loved to dance and was no stranger to “dropping it low”. She would show you up on the dance floor in a minute. She embraced her inner youth and loved to hang with the young folks, because, as she would say, “others my age are old”. She loved cooking and everyone loved her fried chicken. She loved to see others enjoy her food. Her presence, smile, love and outspoken personality will be greatly missed.
June 24, 2021, to July 26, 2021, Angela was under care with Gilchrist Home Hospice. On July 26, 2021, at 11:59am; God called his daughter home with him to endure peace and eternal life.
Preceding her in death are her siblings, William, Regina, and close friend Valerie.
