Listen to Obituary

Angela Doreen Bowman, daughter of the late Henry Louis Armstead and Regina Louise Armstead, was born on December 30, 1958, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was called home February 28, 2023.

Angela was affectionately known as Angie by family and friends. She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at Southern Baptist Church in East Baltimore. She received her education in the Baltimore City Public School system and earned her high school diploma at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in 1977.

Angela married her high school sweetheart John Bowman Sr. and from this union, three children were born, Donte, Shanikia, and John Jr.

Angie was a Early Childhood Education Teacher before becoming a Bus Operator for the Maryland Transit Administration, where she retired in 2012. She was a jack of all trades and was introduced to sewing in high school. Under the tutelage of her mother Regina, she honed her skills as a seamstress. Angie made all the bridesmaids dresses for her very own wedding.

Angie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Family gatherings were not complete without Angie’s famous fried chicken. Her beautiful smile would light up the room and her way with words would bring laughter.

Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She was a hard worker, leader, and authoritative figure in the home growing up. She helped her siblings fight plenty of battles. She will be remembered as a jokester and firecracker.

Greeting Angela at heaven’s gate are her son, Donte, daughter, Shanikia; mother, Regina Armstead; father, Henry Armstead; brothers, Keith, Kevin, Craig, James and Luther; grandson, Quante’.

Angie lived a beautiful life. Her smile and loving personality will be missed. She leaves to cherish her memory her “baby boy” John Bowman Jr.; daughter-in-law, Renee Bowman; grandchildren, Diamond,Jalen, Emir, Marlei, Norei, and Rylei; loving sisters Ida, Sheila, Regina, Yvette, Donna ,Brenda, Loretta and Lisa. Brother in law Roy and Wendell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; good friends Gwen, Sharon, Letitia and Kim.
