Listen to Obituary

Andrea Louise "WeeZee" Brown transitioned to glory on April 29th, 2025 due to a short battle with a very aggressive cancer.  Born on July 10, 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland to Amy Marie and Wayman  Brown.  Louise was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt,  cousin, neighbor and friend.   She will be remembered for her warmth, understanding, generosity and unwavering commitment to family.   She dedicated her life to service through her work, faith and community involvement.

Andrea was educated in the Baltimore Public School System and graduated from Carver High School. During this time she met her childhood sweetheart Freddie L. May and from this union Kevin, Veronica and Betty May were born. After earning a degree in Psychology and Early Childhood Development at  Sojourner Douglas College, Andrea continued her commitment to mentor young people,  particularly those considered at risk.

Andrea was a bright and precocious child who loved to play sports, run track, play volleyball and of course basketball was her thing.   An avid the basketball fan, it was often stated that if the WNBA was around when she was a child, she would have definitely been drafted.  The Golden State Warriors was her #1 team.

Professionally, Andrea's career spanned almost 4 decades in the telecommunications industry,  she was highly respected by colleagues and associates.  She worked at C&P Telephone company and continued through its transition to Bell Atlantic and  eventually Verizon. During this period she met and later married Shawn Earl Sr, from this union Vashawn was born.  Beyond her corporate career, Andrea also contributed to Youth Works and Social Services, helping to guide young individuals to productive futures.

Andrea had a deep love for children and often welcomed those in need into her home.  A talented seamstress, she designed clothing for her daughters and granddaughters with care and creativity.  During COVID she and her daughter Bootsy created thousands of masks for front line workers and kids in the pediatric unit. Of her many talents, her daughters  along with their friends were taught to knit and crochet.  Her passion for gardening  was evident in the landscapes she cultivated throughout Baltimore. Being a phenomenal cook,  her family loved her Spanish chicken and rice, candied yams and the best potato salad in town.

A devoted Christian,  Andrea drew strength from her faith. Her favorite scripture,  "Look to the  hills from whence  cometh my help.   My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth". This Bible verse served as a guiding light throughout her life.

Andrea will be remembered by her daughters Veronica  May-Green (son-in-law Eric Green) Betty May and VaShawn Earl; brother Carroll Brown Sr. (sister-in-law Sarah Brown); nephew/son Carroll Brown Jr, who often called her Aunt Mommy; bonus son  Wayne; grandchildren  Keione,  Jakkia,  Kolbi and Jada; great granddaughter Jordan; and a bonus granddaughter Ashley Marie.  She adored all of her grandchildren. Andrea had too many nieces and nephews to name. Her bonus sisters;  Barbara,  Poly, Sheila Theresa and Ella who proceeded her in death.

She was preceded in death by her parents Amy and Wayman Brown;  brothers Robert and William Brown; son Kevin May; ex-husband Shawn Earl; and grandson Kevin May, Jr.

Our hearts are broken, but we understand it was according to God's infinite wisdom that Andrea departed this life suddenly on Tuesday, April 29 to enter into the presence of the Lord.   The memories of Andrea will forever be cherished in our hearts.
