ALBERTUS GOODSON was born in Darlington SC to the late Jonas and Argie Black Goodson ion January 25, 1924. It is your great regret and sadness that our family announces the passing of our Matriarch, Albertus Goodson who peacefully departed this life on August 12, 2018 at the Manor Care Nursing Home.
Albertus was the eldest child of five children. He was educated in the Darlington County Public School System. He held numerous jobs from tobacco plants until he joined the United States Army in 1945 and served for two years. While serving in the army, he was a proud cook and furthered his skills at the VFW post 285 where he was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign War for over 50 yeas.
After moving to Baltimore MD. he met and married Alma Ruth Goodson, from this union two children were born, Martha Simmons.
Albertus retired with 40 years of service from Glidden Paint and part time for Sun Cab. After retiring he began a second carrier with his own food truck and provided rides for the community at Food Depot in Baltimore City. Family, friends and the community loved him. He loved cooking, fishing, hunting and spending time in Arthur's Barbershop in his spare time.
He loved the Lord with all his heart. He was a n active member at Ray of Hope Baptist Church for over 60 years serving on the Ushers Ministry.
Albertus affectionately known as "Coon" has been called home to join his late wife Alma Ruth Goodson, son Rufus Mason, brothers Roosevelt Goodson, Chamis Goodson, Jonas Goodson, sister Gladys Berry, sisters-in-law Marion, Virginia, daughter-in-law Margaret.
Albertus leaves to cherish his memories to his daughter Martha R. Simmons, granddaughter/best friend Schevon and a host of host of family, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
