Rayquan Garrett Givens
was born to Samantha
Atkinson and the late Claude James Givens on January 16, 1996 at Johns Hopkins
Hospital. Rayquan was affectionately called and known by everyone as
“Twin” or Ray, but most of all that radiant smile he left behind…
Raquan received his education in Baltimore City Public Schools Systems and
graduated in the top of his Class in 2014 from Paul Laurence
Dunbar High School. Ray loved to spend time with his family for
any and every occasion. He enjoyed playing video games, football,
basketball and shopping for the latest fashion trends. Ray had a
love for sneakers Nike was his favorite he would order online,
even stand in line for the new releases. Ray was a hard
worker and didn’t mind working the 2 jobs he held at
Sonic and Amazon.
Rayquan was the life of many of the family gatherings
and was sure to leave an impression with his laugh.
Ray loved to have family dinners on Sunday’s and having
game talk about his favorite Football Team the Baltimore
Ravens and would verbally challenge anyone who
was against his team even if they were losing. Ray had
many one line quotes and jokes he would share with his
family and friends. Let’s not forget the nicknames he gave
many of his loved ones dear to him.
Preceding him in death was his father Claude James Givens;
grandmother, Thelma Mitchell; aunts, Pat, Eva, Esther, Joyce and
May; uncle Tavon Everett.
Rayquan leaves to mourn his mother Samantha Atkinson, three
brothers, his twin Dayquan, Tarron & James, one sister, Tynise;
two grandfathers Samuel Atkinson and John Duke Mills; two
grandmothers Erina Tompkins and Christina Givens; eight aunts,
La’Shonda, Charnaka, Rhonda, Laverne, Tarsha, Teonna, Elizabeth
and Karen; three uncles Terrence, Jeremy and Christopher; and four bestfriends,
Boobie, Corey, Jared and Bill.
