William Chester Gatling, known as "Gat", was the son of John & Lucille Gatling who was educated in Baltimore City Schools. In
1963, he enlisted in the United States Army and served 3 years. He was employed at Bethlehem Steel for 30 years and retired
soon after.
He married Barbara Thomas McGlotten on his birthday, May 23, 1979. He joined Memorial Baptist Church and was baptized by
Pastor Keene in 1986. He served as the Church Administrator for 2 years and then as a Trustee until he became ill.
Gat was so happy when Raina and Cianna was born. He watched Raina through her first 1 1/2 years of life. He enjoyed every
minute of singing their favorite song, "Head Shoulders Knees and Toes!"
Gat loved animals, especially dogs. He enjoyed teaching them how to protect our home.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Barbara of 41 years, two daughters, Kele Gatling & Quanda Gatling Smith, three
sons, Damon Gatling, Thomas McGlotten from Germany (Anke) & SGT 1st Class Terrence McGlotten. Nine grandchildren, three
great-grandchildren, his devoted sister, Johnnie Mae Gatling, five sister-in-laws, three brother-in-laws and a host of nieces,
