SUSIE SEWARD CLARK was called home to be with the Lord after a long illness on October 20, 2017. She was born March 21, 1933, in Elams, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late James and Fannie Demery Seward.

Susie accepted Jesus Christ at an early age, she was baptized at the Mason Grove Baptist Church in Valentines, Virginia. She received her education at the Lawrenceville School System in Valentines, Virginia.

As a young woman she moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she worked at the Reads Drug Store, and a few years later she became a Security Guard for Public Housing, but childcare was her passion. She loved attending church and where ever she was living she would join the closest church. Susie sang on the Herman Hill Choir, she was an usher and was a Pastor's Aide member until her health began to fail.

In 2001 she married the love of her life, Hamell Clark who preceded her in death. Susie's personality was larger than life. She was a social butterfly that never knew a stranger. People were drawn to her loving and fun spirited personality. Anyone who knew her was immediately drawn to her and the first thing she would talk about would be her children. Her children's friends became her children and their children were her grandchildren; she was Mama to many and would never hesitate to help someone in need.

Susie leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Helen Evon Harris, Gloria Tyler and Carolyn Atkins. Four sons, George Green, Rufus, Kurt and Kevin Atkins, three brothers, Alvin and Clarence Seward, Leroy Seward who preceded her in death, two sisters, Mae Fouch and Zatella Seward, sixteen grandchildren, (one preceded her in death), twenty-one great-grandchildren. Susie leaves two special lifelong friends Gloria Drake and Cartella Connie Holbert, two sisters-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. And Kingston who she called her Grandbaby Dog.
